All the drugs that are in clinical trial right now , to treat androgenetic alopecia , aka male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness are going to be apply as topical lotion , there not any new "propecia " pill in current investigation besides Dutasteride ( already available in the market for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia :
AS101 :The synthetic nontoxic Tellurium compound AS101, currently used in clinical trials on cancer patients, has been found to protect cancer patients from chemotherapy-induced bone marrow toxicity and alopecia. Apparently , this chemical how some potent regrowth properties usefully not only for chemotherapy treatment . In Israel , during the end of the year 2007 the clinical trial phase II study started to treat Topical AS101 for Treatment of FAGA (Female Androgenetic Alopecia) in Menopause Women . In 2009 this same drug enter in clinical trials to treat psoriasis since it immunomodulating local properties .NEOSH101 :In a randomized, double-blind Phase 2a clinical study, conducted in Germany during2007, 50 men with androgenetic alopecia (Norwood/Hamilton grades III-IV) received once-daily topical treatments of NEOSH101 or placebo over two 14-day treatment periods, which were separated by a one-month drug-free interval. Hair growth was measured using an objective photographic, computer-based analysis for up to 24 weeks after initiation of therapy. Results show that NEOSH101 was safe and well tolerated. A statistically significant increase in total hair count (4.8%, p=0.04), and cumulative hair thickness (3.7%, p=0.02) were observed, with peak effects occurring eight weeks following the second treatment cycle.In May of 2008 the clinical Trial of the phase II started in USA . At July 2009 this clinical trial is still ongoing and there not any result post to the public , yet .
